Buy The Last Man HERE! |

Don’t worry, it’s not some post
apocalyptic story where there is only one man leftJ
It’s about falling for the last man the
heroine thinks she should. The one she rely on to keep her sane. He might be a
friend and, in this case, a coworker. The other men in her life have always let
her down and this one really hot guy at work has proven she can depend on
him…does she dare?
Add in being an interracial couple and
things feel complicated. Sure, it’s a big city where most people won’t even
notice. It’s hardly an issue except for some ignorant hold outs. However,
family can be harder to please than strangers. Monica knows some of her family
won’t cheer at the idea of her with a white guy.
Things have gone so well as coworkers
that she doesn’t want to risk losing him. That’s what made this such a good fit
for the 1 Night Stand series. Putting the matchmaking in Madame Eve’s hands
removes a bit of the risk involved in changing their relationship. Plus that
one day and night pulls them out of their routine, out of their work funk, and
into focusing on each other.
What I love about this couple is they
feel real to me. They’re humans with flawed pasts and fears about the future.
The risk of ruining what they have if the other person doesn’t feel the same
way or if it doesn’t work out is real. It’s a short story but sometimes the
best true love stories don’t need long drawn out drama or falling in love with
a stranger. The subtle shift of friends to lovers can be as powerful and there
is much more at stake.
Blurb:
Jeffery Ellison and Monica Collins face
off daily in Atlanta's family court system. Both want the best for their
clients but they rarely agree. The sparks are obvious to everyone else, but
Monica has been disappointed by men too many times. Jeff knows pushing her will
only hurt the respect and trust they've built. A match with 1NS sounds like
just the thing. The pair is off to Vegas for a legal conference and to enjoy
their one night stands. Jeff does his best to spend time with her outside of
work but he can't be sure she's his for the night. All he can do is hope that
Madame Eve agrees with his heart and Monica will let her guard down long enough
to see their passionate potential.
Absolutely right that the shift from friends to lovers has more at stake. You stand to lose so much. I've never tried to write a story like that. My guys never know one another before. I think it must be quite a challenge to write a story like yours!! And courtroom drama? Always a winner!! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteThanks Barbara!!
ReplyDeleteI love this series! Sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger, I had a very good friend that turned into a lover for a brief time. It did not workout, however. The funny thing is that we talked about it beforehand and agreed that if it didn't work out, it wouldn't be weird between us. He never really spoke to me after that. I am not quite sure why, but I believe that everything happens for a reason. I am happily married now. :)
I like to read stories where these things workout though, hence the reason that I read romance. ;)
