As
we move into fall, I keep thinking…you “autumn” fall between the pages of a
good book. My brain works in odd ways, but it sounds like southerner slang.
Substitute the words “ought to” for “autumn” and you have your real meaning to
that sentence.
Autumn
in the south doesn’t necessarily mean milder temperatures. Not early on anyway.
Maybe mid-October we’ll start having temperatures cool enough to wear jeans.
When my son was born (he’s a November baby), it was still in the 80s that year
and we were all still wearing shorts.
In
Alabama, fall brings a couple of things to mind…
SEC
College Football…Roll Tide Roll! The Miller family is HUGE Alabama fans.
On
game day, the stadium is full and it seats approximately 102,000 people. There’s
never an empty seat! A new religion anyone?
The
cooler nights bring the trees to life, bursting with fiery orange, reds and
yellows. Raking leaves is not a fun pastime however!
And
with the cooler weather, I find myself on the sofa, in front of the fireplace,
buried beneath a throw, with a cup of nectar of the gods (coffee for those that
don’t speak Gracen lingo) and a book!
A
good book is better than comfort food. Do I hear an “amen”?
If
you agree…how about trying out a book from Decadent Publishing? They have a lot
of great ones out there. What does fall bring to mind in your neck of the
woods?
And
in the spirit of things, I’m holding the awesome contest below.
A good book IS my favorite choice of a huge dose of comfort food WOOT and the colder months lend themselves well to such a diet ;)
ReplyDeleteI've got a ton of books on my kindle to read, so don't enter me in the contest xxx just wanted to wave hi and let you know I really enjoyed your blog post. ENJOY FALL!! And all that comfort food.
Fall...definitely cooler temperatures :) Even though I live in Southern Calif, I can't wait for those cool days and cooler evenings.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway Gracen! You ROCK!
Fall - or Autumn in my neck of the woods! - means beautiful colors but sadly they don't last long in the UK, not in the way they do in the States. But the way leaves can change through such a variety of shades never ceases to amaze me. of course Autumn also brings cold, rain, fog, dark nights - none of which I like!
ReplyDeleteany old comment lol
ReplyDeleteAmen to that, and here's hoping it can help me lose weight :) I love fall I tend to read more cause I read on my porch a lot and in the summer that's hellish :)
ReplyDeleteHuggles Gracen!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy Autumn as in Australia, it is a real break from the hot weather. On the other hand it makes me think OH NO winters coming.
ReplyDeleteI love fall, I love the cooler weather and the turning of the leaves, I love that I can break out my quilts and snuggle in them with a book and hot chocolate. Thanks Carin
ReplyDeleteA good book doesn't go to my butt. LOL
ReplyDeleteFall is one of my favorite times of the year.
ReplyDeleteIt's cooler temps, beautiful colors as the leaves fall from the trees, the county fair, carving pumpkins, spooky things, getting dark early.

Fall means my son's birthday! He was born on the first day of Fall! Also, this season means that I get to stay inside and read more! I don't really like the colder temps so I just grab a book or my Kindle read the day(and most of the night) away!

fall means an end to being able to frolic in the lake. I will stare and glower as it becomes icy and eventually is frozen leaving only the memory of fishes.
ReplyDeleteIn our part of the country we don't really get a fall.... but I love college football and I love a good book, I already have several of the 1 Night Stand stories. Thanks for the contest. lisagk@(yahoo)dot(com)
ReplyDeleteI don't like fall because that means winter is right around the corner. I'm a spring ans summer girl.

Curled up on the sofa with a warm drink at hand, reading a good book, and scented candles lit around. Nice and cozy inside while it's cold and rainy outside.
ReplyDeleteI love the autumn b/c it means fewer 100 degree days. We also get a little color change but not near as much as back east and north do.
ReplyDeleteA good book is better than just about anything. I love fall. I can have the door open for fresh air, it's bound to be rainy and then I have an excuse for hot chocolate and a good book.
ReplyDeleteI have never read any books from Decadent. Thanks for the opportunity to have a chance of doing so.
ReplyDeleteIn Spain this Fall still looks like Summer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the international chance! ;)
