Like mixing a bit of schnapps with your peppermint? How about an extra shot of cheer in your dessert coffee? After pursuing many recipes, here are five totally, yummy-sounding, naughty drinks.

5) Hot Buttered Rye – First impression of this drink, I have to admit, reminds me of an adult version of Harry Potter’s Butterbeer.  This whiskey cocktail gets topped off with a maple-cream, via Southern Living.

4) Gingerbread Apple Cocktail – Never heard of Domaine de Canton, a ginger liqueur, until discovering this seasonal surprise. One of my favorite items about winter is gingerbread. Add in vanilla vodka crisp apple cider and enjoy!

3) Dreaming of Zen – Stressed out after a busy year? Unwind with a Zen nightcap. No idea they made a Zen Green Tea Liqueur until I came across this stunning recipe. Plus, it’s green.

2) Candy Cane Cocktail – vanilla rum, white chocolate liqueur and peppermint schnapps. How could you go wrong with this Sandra Lee creation?

1) Champagne with Raspberries – It’s a classic for a reason: simple and elegant. Watch out, though, the bubbly tends to bubble a bit more with the added fruit. Bonus: chocolate-dipped strawberries on the side.

5 Things Not to Do While Ghost Hunting

This year, the Authors After Dark Convention brings attendees to Savannah, Georgia. I keep hearing the Southern city billed as the “most haunted” in America. One of the evening festivities is a walking haunted tour, which got me thinking – What shouldn’t you do while ghost hunting?

Here’s my list:

5) Wear Holy Water like eau de perfume, dabbed behind the ears.

4) Sit in a darkened room, and inform the ghosts they’re allowed to “touch you” to let you know they’re there. (No joke! I went to an event with Amy from Ghost Hunters, and she actually called out this invitation!)

3) Invite the spectral inhabitants to travel home with you. My advice: Let them haunt wherever they currently live.

2) Wear high heels. (Come on, we’ve all seen the horror movie. Sensible shoes, only, please!)

1) Duck under the sheets in a historical house. Probably frowned upon, and I expect the living will ask you to leave.

Cheating Death. The Grim Reaper. I’m fascinated with the concept of looking Death in the face, and avoiding the final snatch.

As someone who continuously avoids potential horrendous accidents, it’s a meaningful subject. (Oh, I don’t cause them, but simply just miss them.) Do I have a guardian angel? Someone looking out for me from the great beyond? Perhaps, it’s my mother who died when I was 14, or maybe my best friend, who passed away in a drunken driving accident the year after I graduated from high school. Or is it that I have more left to do on this earth?

I realize these are pretty heavy topics for a blog about erotic romance. It also gives a glimpse into the psyche, and that fascination with Death. (Note, the capitalization is totally on purpose … a personification of that we cannot see, but definitely affects most of us.)

My first 1Night Stand, A Date with Death, takes a slightly humorous look at the Great Beyond. The story opens with Maise in the waiting room of Heaven. I had a friend ask me why a waiting room. It must have something to do with my Catholic upbringing, and that concept of Purgatory. What’s one thing we dislike most of all: Waiting. That uneasy feeling of not knowing, and being stuck between two worlds.

The same concept surfaces in A Dance with Death, which recently was accepted for publication, and I’m currently working on one more for this series. We all have influences that return to haunt, and some of us may be more perceptive than others. Listen to those voices, and realize you don’t always have to accept the path given.

Ready for A Date with Death?

Life clicks by with a variety of milestones. From birth to first kiss to first love. From sex to first orgasm. (They don’t have to go in that order.) One expects certain things to happen before we leave this world, and when it doesn’t we can feel cheated.

Life isn’t always fair. Madame Evangeline, though, with her 1Night Stand dating service strives to make dreams come true. At least that’s one of my interpretations after reading many of these tales. M. Eve possesses many talents and has more than a few secrets up her sleeves.

As a long-time fangirl of Decadent Publishing’s 1Night Stand series, I had to try my hand at a tale. The love affair started with Liia Ann White’s “One Hot Australian Night,” and my Kindle quickly filled up with these satisfying and steamy quickies.

A Date withDeath doesn’t exactly cheat the ever-after, it’s more like Madame Eve pushes the boundaries between being alive and not. When Maise embarks on her final journey to meet her maker, there are a few benchmarks she never experienced, including mind-blowing loving between the sheets. Can a blind date offer that experience?

Oh, yeah! When Maise comes skin to skin with Reece, it’s the magic of memories making, and then some. Let’s just say that I more than enjoyed sharing this tale, and hopefully readers will, too.
