Who is Kaida Li you ask? She is a fire breathing dragon…really! Kaida is a martial artist and performer who belly dances and plays with fire. She can eat flames, and breath them, set her skin on fire, dance with fans and swords, and oh so much more!

She’s got an edge to her, a scorching temper and a dark sexual craving she cannot conquer. What about Roark? Well, he brings to bed, a few heated secrets of his own…

Dragon Series Dilemma

For fans of my bestselling 1NS erotic romance of fiery parahuman twins & a divorcee with a tricky twist of her own in Double Dragon Seduction, there is a sequel to this sizzling paranormal tale, and now a third dragon story coming in October 2013!

But that’s not all…a fourth story; a prequel to it all is underway with plans to put the collection in a print edition!

What is the dilemma you ask? Well, coming up with single titles is usually fairly simple for me, with each dragon story added to the series, it took more thought and contemplation. Now, to name the whole series has me in quite the quandary.

I want you to weigh in and tell me what appeals more to you for the title, & does it need more steam for an erotic paranormal romance series?

The other part I need your feedback with is my custom swag. In part, I’m focused on the Romantic Time Convention in New Orleans next year; this is my one convention goal to complete; go to RT loaded for bear with swag and print books for all dragon lovers to enjoy.

To avoid any duplication of my esteemed fellow authors’ creativity, I’m looking for something unique and dragon related, I’m also taking into consideration the Mardi Gras atmosphere of New Orleans.

What I’ve come up with so far, are custom glow in the dark, (or regular) temporary tattoos I’m designing, flavoured fortune cookies with messages from the series, Chinese fans, customized dragon’s blood votive candles (they smell so yummy), glow in the dark beads and a few other possibilities.

What do you prefer for swag? Something useful, mementos, theme related…? Help? This is one version of the tattoo I’ve been working on, and wonder if you like?

Urban Fantasy or Epic Mythology?

Whenever I write a new story, like most authors, I do a great deal of research, whether it is genre, time, clothing, or music, whatever pieces need to fit the story just right. Sometimes it sparks my creative juices, other times, like with my dragons and gargoyles, I find, research for mythology is sorely limited, and it can cause a creative roadblock.

This was the challenge I ran into with my Double Dragon 1NS series, so in response, I created what I envisioned as my own epic urban fantasy. The first in my serious, Double Dragon Seduction, I introduced my own mythology and folklore about Chinese zodiac and dragons. The rest of the books in it, I play on the mythology as the obstacle for the heroes and heroines to overcome.

Is mythology fact or fiction? My personal belief is it’s a blend of both. Legend, folklore, fables…call it what you may, but it all means tales that were handed down by our ancestors, be it for their faith, or experiences.

Sometimes, tales are based on events that were reported to have actually happened. Of course, as every story does, over time and with each telling of the tale, details tend to get exaggerated or altered, depending on who and how it gets depicted.

Who doesn’t love a great romantic tale? We all know the Disney line of princesses and their HEAs, but also stories like King Arthur, Zeus and Hercules, Aphrodite, or even Egyptian princess Cleopatra…this is only scratching the surface of the endless list of fantastical creatures we have come to love throughout history.

Writers often craft phenomenal, captivating legends for their invented worlds–but without the awarenessof already established mythology, it seems the uniqueness gets lost in the shuffle, amidst the characters and setting. It just becomes part of the story.

From our readers, tell me, am I wrong on my perception? I want to know, what do you envision as epic urban fantasy? What makes new mythology stick with you, after you’ve read the story and tucked the book away? Without having knowledge to draw from when reading about mythical creatures, does it steal away from your experience of the newly created world and make learning new rules and details too much? Does there have to be an element of familiarity for you in order to buy into the story?

“Not when you’re with me, I’ll keep you safe, I promise.” The warmth of his smile melted the last of her cold exterior.

Their path was illuminated with solar lights leading up to their destination. Although she felt hesitant, she didn’t resist when he led her to the shrewd rocky archway. The exquisite aroma of the jasmine flowers clustered along the walls of the entrance lingered about them.

“I read about this in the brochure in my room. It’s exclusive use only to villa guests, so…”

“What?”

“Since the reception is still going, I don’t think we’ll be interrupted.”

“Oh,” a shiver of excitement ran through her. Another chance of getting caught, that’s tantalizing.

“There’s some rod iron torches along these stone walls,” Yong patted down his pocket-less jacket. “No matches.” He pouted.

“I don’t have anything,” Cindy stopped and panic set in.  “I left my bag in my room.”

“Hey, it’s no problem, I got it.” Yong stood close to the torch, and gently blew on the wick. The slightest glow emanated from his pursed lips and ignited a flame.

A surge of excitement rushed through her as she watched. “That’s right, the dragon thing. Gwen did tell me about that.”

“Hope it doesn’t freak you out.” Yong collected her hand and walked to the next one down the way.

“Not at all, I honestly thought she was pulling my leg.”

A surprising sensation ran across her palm. “Hey, your hand is getting hot.”

“Part of the parahuman lighter trick I’m afraid. It’ll go back to normal in a few minutes.”

When you come across a story line and characters you fall in love with, do you find that you want to know more about them? Being 1NS are short stand alones, and there isn’t a lot of room for back story, I’ve been toying with the idea of writing a separate Double Dragon line, Chronicles of the Double Dragon.

Anyone who knows me is aware that Halloween is my most absolute favourite time of the year. More than any other holiday! I love the autumn colors, pumpkins, hot apple cider, and anything paranormal related.

Getting dressed up in grotesque costumes isn’t necessarily what I fancy, although, I love the parties, the opportunity to assume a temporary alternate identity, and the delectable treats that come with the season. Investigating things that go bump in the night, the alluring mystery of supernatural creatures and unexplained phenomenon is what I crave. I’ve gone on ghost walks and even tagged along for a paranormal investigation in a creepy century home!

Getting the kids dressed up and taking them trick or treating is an annual must, but after that few hours of bone chilling cold, sorting a mountain of candy they can’t have all at once, and tucking the little ones into their warm beds for the night, I’m left wondering…what special Halloween thing can I do, home alone? Aside from watching the traditional scary movies with popcorn, I’m yearning for a new adventure in the confines of my living room.

I’ve yet to find a paranormal movie with dragons that feeds my obsession for the mythical creatures. The usual Halloween horrors I have seen year in and year out, are things like: The Lost Boys, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Halloween- #’s 1 through one hundred J, Friday the 13^th, Nightmare on Elmstreet, Hell Night, and a number of other occult favourites.

This year, I have an extra special event here today, on HALLOWEEN !!!

“Hey, it’s no problem, I got it.” Yong stood close to the torch and blew on the wick. T The glow emanating from his pursed lips ignited the lamp.

A surge of amazement rushed through her. “That’s right, the dragon thing. Gwen told me about that.”

“Hope it doesn’t freak you out.” Yong walked to the next one and repeated his magic.

“Not at all, actually, the first time I saw it was that night Gwen lost it on her ex. Then, I was freaked out, but it was like she was in a trance, and her eyes were….”

“Glowing?”

“Yes!”

“Yeah, that’s when the anger takes over. It’s like your body goes on autopilot. So, you’re okay with this then?” He leaned in to light another one.

“The way tonight is going; it’s just one more amazing thing.”

Yong took her hand and they went deeper into the tunnel.

A surprising sensation filled her palm. “Hey, your skin is getting hot.”

“Part of the parahuman lighter trick, I’m afraid. It’ll go back to normal in a few minutes.”

Follow Ups to Original 1NS Stories?

My very first 1NS story was a contemporary, erotic romance called Designing Passion. This story takes place in a romantic Spanish Castle resort with some serious steam between the hero and heroine. There’s a masque, a beach and a surprise—or two.

Reviews for Designing Passion, have been wonderful! Review sites and readers alike have asked the same question; “I would like to know what happened on the best friend, Laura’s, 1NS date!”

To acknowledge the importance Laura played as a secondary character with her own romantic challenges, my muse obliged and a second story for Laura evolved from it! I won’t reveal too much, because I haven’t submitted it to Decadent yet (still editing), in the near future, I will be blogging about Tantric Storm.

This inspiration expanded into even more writing ideas. My five 1NS stories are being re-released in a print Anthology (COMING SOON) called: Shadowed Desires. The stories are all very different, but again, are tied together by the common thread of Madame Evangeline, her gift of match making and the 1Night Stand service.

So my question to you is; if Laura has her own story now, should any characters from my other 1NS’s get their own too? My muse thinks half of the smokin’ hot twin sensation and best friend in Double Dragon Seduction should! In fact, she’s already done a brief outline of the plot!

There have even been rumblings of another character in Designing Passion deserving his own romantic intervention, Alejandro was adored by readers, and even makes another appearance in Tantric Storm!

Dare to take on a Dragon-Lover, or two?

I have to admit, I’m not usually a creature of addiction, but ever since I wrote my first 1Night Stand story, I just can’t seem to stop! It’s been exactly a year since I met the wonderful ladies of Decadent and was swooned by them as individuals, and as a fantastic publisher with such a unique story line that applies to any genre! It has been both a pleasure, and an honor to work with such a talented & creative group.

The concept of 1Night Stand is intriguing, and allows the intimate imaginings of authors and readers to indulge in the “what ifs” of anonymous matchmaking for a single evening of erotic fulfilment. I love that the stories also are completed with a HEA, or at best, a HFN ending make them a wonderful, yet brief escape.

 Madame Evangeline continues to amaze & surprise us with her mystical match making skills, and in my new story, her gift is no exception. In fact, I think she outdoes herself connecting these three people in the ultimate spot for a fiery romance, with a surprising twist.

There is something so remarkably sexy about their eyes, contrasted against their darker features of shoulder length, ebony hair and their tanned complexions. I melt just thinking about them, and the Kanji tattoos on their sculptured pecks; *wipes the drool from her chin*, you have to read for yourself!

Gwen’s horrible ex is still messing with her happiness. He creates big trouble for her evening of erotic romance with identical twins!

How many women fantasize of being in the middle of two smoldering, exotic men like this, and being the centre of attention? Of course, there is a catch! There is a huge element of danger involved in a night with these two! What could it possibly entail?

“This isn’t such a good idea, Tatsu.”

“Trust me. I don’t need to remind you of the consequences if we ignore the signs much longer.” He plopped on the side of his bed and took a long, fortifying swallow of his latte.

“No, you don’t.” Shrugging his shoulders to loosen his tight muscles, Yong sank back in the armchair and placed his cup on the table beside him.

“Besides, with an ordinary date, we’d be obligated to explain, but our one-night stand comes with no strings attached. She won’t even know how to contact us afterward.” Not that she’ll want to. She’ll probably be so freaked out, she’ll move to Ecuador to put more space between her and us.

“So, how does it work?”

 “Madame Eve arranged a match for the night, and then we can get back to normal.”

“How did you find the service?” Yong was puzzled.

“Grandfather knew Eve from years ago. He assured me she is discreet and can be trusted with…” he glanced at the hotel room door before lowering his voice to continue, “…anything.”

“Grandfather approved the plan then?”

“Yes, and we would do well to follow his advice. We’re running out of time.”

Tatsu  fidgeted with his cup before setting it on the bedside table.

“Is it uncomfortable?” Studying his older brother for any signs of the change, Yong cringed as Tatsu rubbed the drying skin on his forearm.

“It’s nothing I can’t handle.”
