A FROST-y Valentine

Are you suffering from as much winter fatigue as me? Well, I’d love to give you all a big smooch. But I can’t. And I’d love to give you a huge box of big, fat gourmet chocolate truffles. But I can’t. And I’d love to toast you all with a fizzy, nose-tickling glass of bubbly. But I can’t. And sparklers, well, no, I’ll just keep the bling.

But what I can do, with a little help from my friends at Decadent, is treat you to a sexy-sweet, hotly romantic Valentine’s tale.

So this is FROST, one of my sexiest, most romantic Sleep Hollow 1Night Stand stories. FROST just celebrated its book birthday. In honor of Valentine’s Day, it’ll be 99 cents, today and tomorrow only, at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. (Talk about a cheap date!)

The heroine is Dagney Night, a sexy succubus, looking for more than a wham-bam-thank you-ma’am as the busiest night of the year--Valentine's Day--looms.

The hero is Maxwell Raines, a mysterious artist and reclusive fire-sex demon, whose paintings have a strangely erotic effect on everyone who views them at Dagney's Night gallery.

Madame Eve, that lovely little Cupid in disguise, brings them together for a Valentine’s neither will ever forget.

BLURB:

Dagney Night, a sought-after succubus, is no stranger to blazing hot sex. But as Valentine’s Day approaches, she longs for something more. When oddly erotic paintings arrive for display at her art gallery, arousing everyone who views them, she wonders about the mysterious artist who created the works.

Maxwell Raines, a fire-sex demon, lives a life of solitude and seclusion behind the walls of his compound at Sleepy Hollow, channeling his lustful impulses into his art—until his muse deserts him and his temperature rises past the danger point. He needs sex. Now.

When Madame Evangeline arranges a torrid Valentine’s 1Night Stand for them, will the flames of their encounter be too hot to handle?

EXCERPT:
Dagney followed her sister’s glance, and her heart flipped like a gymnast unable to nail a vault. Darkness swathed the gallery with the exception of the lights above or below each of the paintings. The large man emerging from the shadows held her rapt. Waves of pure, unadulterated lust smacked her with such force she didn’t even see Lily and Campbell leave. The blast of raw desire crumpled her to the floor. Her gaze remained riveted on the tall hunk of ferocious male stalking toward her, radiating undiluted carnality. He set something carefully on the floor and grasped her by the elbows, his touch surprisingly gentle when he lifted her to her feet.
“I’m Maxwell Raines.”
Yeah. No kidding. Who else could a guy so hot, so studly, possibly be?
She told herself not to swoon. Ordered herself not to swoon. But, Goddess, that rumbling voice. More potent than a train barreling over the tracks. And he smelled so good. Sinfully masculine. A bit of musk, a bite of pine, an essence of dark, smoky nights. Sexy scents. Reminiscent of tangled satin sheets that had been given a good work-out.
Her legs turned to rubber, and she doubted they’d support her on their own. She’d be mortified if he’d have to scrape her puddled body up again. But he hadn’t yet relaxed his grip. Could she bullshit her way through the meeting without collapsing? “You’re late,” she said.
“I’m never late.”
“Well, the party’s over, Mr. Raines.” She waved a hand around the empty room.
“Depends on your perspective.”
“You’re big on perspective, are you?”
“I’m a painter.” A brief shrug accompanied his blunt words. “Obvious connection.”
“Right. But as you can see, everyone’s left.”
“You haven’t.” He gazed down at her, a black brow flaring. “And you’re what I’m here for.”

By the way…Max is the cousin of the scorching hot Bhyrne Raines, the hero of HEAT WAVE. And Bhyrne’s long lost twin brother, Spook, will arrive a little later this year in IN FROM THE COLD, my latest 1Night Stand.

So tell me, tell me, tell me…what’s your idea of a sweet or sexy or wild or adventurous or just flat-out passionate Valentine’s?  Leave a comment for a chance to win a copy of FROST or some tasty swag!

STEAM HEAT…..Ssssssssssss!

by Taryn Kincaid

Yeah, so I may have mentioned before how easily distracted I am when writing. Other authors talk about the playlists they have, the tunes totally necessarily to their word flow, if not their very existence.

For me, anything with a beat and lyrics has the effect of “Oh, look! Shiny!”
But afterwards? Once I’m done and there’s a title and everything? It’s Earworm City.

After LIGHTNING came out, the  first of my Sleepy Hollow 1Night Stand stories, fellow Decadent author, Cate Peace told me she could not stop hearing The Wanted’s Lightning.  Now, I can’t either.

After THUNDER came out, Heather Bennett gave me a little Facebook concert featuring AC/DC’s anthem, Thunderstruck, with its rousing howls of “THUNDER! THUNDER! THUNDER!”

FROST? BLIZZARD?  Sorry, Max & Dagney. Sorry, Jack & Mandy. Couldn’t find one for you guys. But now...there’s HEAT WAVE, my fourth (and HOTTEST) Sleepy Hollow 1Night Stand, just released on Amazon.

It’s amazing how many songs out there have “Heat Wave”, “Heat”, or “Hot” somewhere in the title. Earworms  galore!  Everything from Marilyn Monroe’s Heat Wave in There’s No Business Like Show Business (“We’re having a heat wave, a  tropical heat wave/ it isn’t surprisin’ the temperature’s risin’), to Martha &  The Vandellas’ and Linda Ronstadt’s rock, Heat Wave (“It’s like a heat wave, burning in my heart”), to hip-hopper Wiley’s party (Yeah, I’m not  even going to attempt that one. You can click on the video for yourself!) Even Steam Heat from the old Broadway musical, Pajama Game.

I smacked a few of them up on my Facebook Author page and also my Pinterest “videos” board. Here’s Linda (romantic) and Wiley (hilarious).

BLURB:
Sent into the human realm to retrieve prodigal princess, Zena Night, Bhyrne Raines is shocked and unprepared for his carnal reaction to the sexy succubus. In service to the succubus queen, the rugged enforcer must stifle the instant passion exploding within him. Fulfilling his royal duty doesn’t allow for quickie dalliances. His biological clock is ticking, and he begins to enter breedspawn, an intense and unstoppable frenzy of mating all fire-demon males must endure. But the more he wants to avoid Zena, the more he’s drawn to her.

Reluctant to give up her carefree life of partying among the mortals when the hot-as-sin Bhyrne comes to fetch her for the queen, Zena uses her succubus wiles to entice him, or at least delay the inevitable trip to the royal court. Once in the demon stronghold, hidden deep within the Catskill mountains, she learns the reason for the summons: she must choose a consort within two days.

Zena needs a mate. Bhyrne needs to mate. With time running out for both of them, they each turn to 1Night Stand. With time running out, can Madame Eve come to the rescue?

EXCERPT:
Holy freeze gun, Batman. The words died before she managed to expose them to air. Her mouth snapped shut.
One of the Queen’s guards stood before her, huge and tall, nearly twice the size of most of the other males in the joint, a hella hunka supernatural male. Clearly not human, although Hugo Boss’d to his Adam’s apple in an apparent bid to fit in among the humans trolling for hot sex, illicit drugs, watered-down booze and loud music. Beneath the fabric of the unstructured designer suit, the toned muscles of a demonic warrior rolled like tidal waves. Even without the small lapel pin the uninformed might mistake for the The Rolling Stones’ logo, she’d recognize him for a captain of the guard. Maybe the Queen’s own Captain.
Hellfire and cotton candy. Trouble. T-R-O-U-B-L-E.
But, by the goddess, whattahottie! Despite her certainty that his presence in the club corridor boded ill for her, the force of her sudden hunger shook her.
Like lightning.
Thunder.
A desperate bolt out of the blue.
Instant connection to him on the paranormal plane, as if he’d wrapped her aura in gold chains and tugged her to him. But did that fast lane to heaven run one way or two?
A grim expression straightened the lines of what otherwise might have been a generous, sensuous mouth. A military buzz cut had weed-whacked hair the color of iron. And it didn’t stop there. Without doubt, metal fortified every single cell in the massive male’s body, pure titanium flowing in his veins. The stern planes and angles of a hard-edged, swoon-worthy face set grimly as cement. Though he lounged in the hallway like any Archie or Jughead waiting in line to discharge his rented beer in a urinal, he exuded authority, his carriage and bearing such that he made the others look like a pack of Twizzlers. Oh. Yeah. More than a mere guardsman, she guessed. An enforcer.
Ruh-roh.

Tall, Dark and Demon

Buy Frost HERE
By Taryn Kincaid
When I was writing LIGHTING, my first 1Night Stand story, and the first in my Sleepy Hollow series for Decadent, I wrote the following unfortunate line fragment during a hot love scene between the heroine, Lily Night, and the love of her life, Campbell Jones:
“…his tongue painted fiery arrows of lust, all pointing to one place.”
My editor, Valerie Mann, responded thusly:  “A tongue can’t paint. And not sure what painting fiery arrows of lust means. It is poetic though. [insert smiley face here]”
Oh, yeah?
Well, I’ll show you, Valerie Mann. I don’t think she knows this, but that edit eventually inspired the idea for FROST.
The unfortunate LIGHTNING line went bye-bye, of course, and mercifully so. But it started me thinking…
What if he can paint lust? And what if there is fire in his touch?
And so, Max Raines, the hero of FROST, was born.  And a delicious devil he is, too.
Max is a fire-sex demon, who is literally too hot for mere mortals, licentious demonesses—and even redheads—to handle. And he’s an unbelievably talented artist, whose works invoke lust in everyone who views them. He paints to keep his temperature under control and lives in isolation, dedicated to his art, in order to keep the ashes of his burnt sex partners off his sheets.
Poor, gorgeous Max.  He really, really needs a date.
Enter Dagney Night, a gallery-owning succubus, for whom sex—which she needs to live—is becoming humdrum. And who wants, more than anything, a Valentine.
Can Max give Dag what she needs? What do you think? [insert winky face here]

Tell me your most outrageous idea for Valentine’s Day, and what you lust for in a hero, and I’ll give one random commenter some sweet and chocolaty Valentine goodness and other swag. Maybe even a backlist book!
