When
I was writing LIGHTING, my first 1Night Stand story, and the first in my Sleepy
Hollow series for Decadent, I wrote the following unfortunate line fragment
during a hot love scene between the heroine, Lily Night, and the love of her
life, Campbell Jones:
“…his
tongue painted fiery arrows of lust, all pointing to one place.”
My
editor, Valerie Mann, responded thusly:
“A tongue can’t paint. And not sure what painting fiery arrows of lust
means. It is poetic though. [insert smiley face here]”
Oh,
yeah?
Well,
I’ll show you, Valerie Mann. I don’t
think she knows this, but that edit eventually inspired the idea for FROST.
The
unfortunate LIGHTNING line went bye-bye, of course, and mercifully so. But it
started me thinking…
What
if he can paint lust? And what if
there is fire in his touch?
And
so, Max Raines, the hero of FROST, was born.
And a delicious devil he is, too.
Max
is a fire-sex demon, who is literally too hot for mere mortals, licentious
demonesses—and even redheads—to handle. And he’s an unbelievably talented
artist, whose works invoke lust in everyone who views them. He paints to keep
his temperature under control and lives in isolation, dedicated to his art, in
order to keep the ashes of his burnt sex partners off his sheets.
Poor,
gorgeous Max. He really, really needs a
date.
Enter
Dagney Night, a gallery-owning succubus, for whom sex—which she needs to
live—is becoming humdrum. And who wants, more than anything, a Valentine.
Can
Max give Dag what she needs? What do you think? [insert winky face here]
Tell me your most outrageous
idea for Valentine’s Day, and what you lust for in a hero, and I’ll give one
random commenter some sweet and chocolaty Valentine goodness and other swag.
Maybe even a backlist book!
Frost blurb:
Dagney Night, a sought-after succubus, is no
stranger to blazing hot sex. But as Valentine’s Day approaches, she longs for
something more. When oddly erotic paintings arrive for display at her art
gallery, arousing everyone who views them, she wonders about the mysterious
artist who created the works.
Maxwell Raines, a fire-sex demon, lives a life
of solitude and seclusion behind the walls of his compound at Sleepy Hollow,
channeling his lustful impulses into his art—until his muse deserts him and his
temperature rises past the danger point. He needs sex. Now.
When Madame Evangeline arranges a torrid
Valentine’s 1Night Stand for them, will the flames of their encounter be too
hot to handle?
