Taking a Virtual Vacation

By Denise McCray
At this time of the year, I'm usually packing my suitcase and getting ready to fly off to some warmer locale. Winter in western Pennsylvania is no joke. For the past several years, Mother Nature spoiled us, only dumping a few inches of snow on the region and gifting us with moderate temperatures. But the month of January 2013 has been brutal. The thermometer has rarely risen above freezing, and ice on the roads makes driving treacherous.

Due to reasons beyond my control *cough, no money* I have to suffer through this chilly weather without a vacation break. But doesn't mean I can't enjoy a virtual getaway. A friend of mine gave me the idea. She's been posting images of beaches and delightful adult beverages on her Facebook page. Just seeing them daily on my timeline makes me feel better.

Generally, I travel to either Orlando or Las Vegas in the winter. It feels so good to get off the plane and see a palm tree. Although it can sometimes be a little cool in Vegas, I really don't mind since I generally spend most of my time in the casinos. Can we say jackpot!

This year my hubby promised to take me someplace fabulous since we'll be celebrating our thirtieth wedding anniversary in February. I can't decide where I want to go though. Will you help me decide?  Please leave me your suggestions in the comments.

Love,
Denise

  1. Oregon. I love Oregon! I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but there's so much to do and see there. The best holiday I ever had.
