Hey, it’s Shifter Month! Celebrate!

In my Legend of the Spirit series the heroes are Native American shifters. What makes them different than other shifters is their connection to their animal side. I refer to it as being their hero’s Animal Totem. The word totem is derived from the Chippewa word “odoodem” meaning “his kinship group”.  Many tribes hold the belief that each person has an animal totem that is his/her spirit guide. Any animal spotted four or more times in a dream will become that person’s spirit animal and guide. These totems, or spirit guides walk through life with them, teaching and protecting them.
Totems include all animals as well as creatures of mythology and legend. Animal spirits can be called up by an individual for its special powers to serve as a guardian or protector. The Chippewa like many tribes follow a set of principles and beliefs that suggest a deep connection with the earth, nature and the spiritual realm.
In Crow Magic, the hero is a Shawnee Shaman is a crow shifter who is the Keeper of the Spiritual Law, and a carrier of souls from darkness to light. While searching for balance in life, he enjoys using his body to accomplish his magic.  The story shows the importance of spirituality in sex as it inspires personal growth. He looks at his 1 Night Stand as a job but ends up finding balance of nature in the arms of a shy woman.

In Eagle Dance, the hero is a Chippewa eagle shifter who listens to his spirit animal and turns to Madame Eve and 1Night Stand to help him find his spirit mate. This man of great strength finds it necessary to take a step into the past before dancing into the future.
