Pizza For Two = Romance

by Mary Quast

In the book Eagle Dance, the main characters bond over pizza. There is love at first sight, so why not have love over pizza?
Dyami planned to pull out all his charms and romance this gal. Sexy as hell, with a wit to match his, she also held an appreciation for a well-made pizza.
A couple we know looked for something they could do together that would add a little spice to their marriage. They signed up for a pizza cooking class. Once they got into the kneading and tossing the dough, stress slipped away and was replaced with light hearted humor. The new activity became the charm they needed.
We have pizza night as a family. Where is the romance in that? Hubby pours a glass of wine for he and I while I prepare the dough. We often make a hard toast with toppings to snack on with our wine while the pizza cooks. After we are caught kissing a few times, the boys complain of how gross we are and exit to the living room.
Looking for a cheap date night for you and your honey? Grab a bottle of wine and a takeout pizza then head to a local park with a blanket. If the weather is yucky, do what Dyami and Amanda did in Eagle Dance. They relaxed in front of a cozy fire in the fireplace to enjoy their wine and pizza. But of course they had chocolate and caramel syrup for dessert. You’ll have to read the book to find out if they put it on ice cream or each other.

Eagle Dance
Dyami Schafer, a Native American from the Chippewa tribe, leads a lonely life due to his large size and unusual appearance. When his nesting instinct sets in, he turns to Madame Eve and 1Night Stand to help him find his spirit mate. Or at least a woman who accepts him as an eagle shifter.
Amanda Collins never stopped loving the Chippewa boy she knew from her childhood. Maybe a night with a Native American man will help her forget the past and let her move on with her life.
Sometimes, it’s necessary to take a step into the past before dancing into the future. With the help of Madame Eve, will the Spirit of the Eagle carry Dyami and Amanda?

Fun with Handcuffs & Silk Scarves

By Mary Quast

Having restricted movement will intensify the senses and make for very sensual loving. Handcuffs are an important accessory for a cop costume but also can be a lot of fun in the bedroom. Keep in mind, handcuffs used in sex play are made to be comfortable and safe so don’t borrow your buddy’s police issue. Silk scarves that are worn on a daily basis can have a dual meaning when used during sexual play. Imagine sitting at dinner and caressing the silk scarf around your neck as your partner watches you, anticipating how it will be used after dessert.
Communication is important in every relationship. Openly talk to your partner if you are thinking of “trying something new”. Don’t freak them out by whipping out handcuffs in the middle of the moment. Use handcuffs specifically designed for bedroom play. Visit your local adult toy store together to pick out a nice pair and feel free to ask questions to the trained/knowledgeable staff. Only use handcuffs with someone you completely trust. If you decide to any kind of role playing situation, consider designating a safe word in advance to be used when/if the situation becomes too uncomfortable.
Silk scarves are a fun and sexy substitute to handcuffs but the same advice applies. Being physically restrained can be a very deep and passionate experience but always use safety and open communication.

Mary Quast is the author of Handcuffs & Silk, a 1Night Stand story.

BLURB:
Stephanie "Stiff" Johnson is a tough Las Vegas cop who many men find too intimidating to date. Steph begins to wonder if something is wrong with her so she turns to Madame Eve to find a man who could be the yin to her yang, even if it's just for one night.
Hunter Mason left behind years of living as a sub to a female Domme in New York. Upon return to his hometown, he questions whether he wants to continue with the "lifestyle" or find something different. Turning to 1 Night Stand, he hopes to sample his options.
A simple one-night stand opens a whole new sensuous world to both.

Hey, it’s Shifter Month! Celebrate!

In my Legend of the Spirit series the heroes are Native American shifters. What makes them different than other shifters is their connection to their animal side. I refer to it as being their hero’s Animal Totem. The word totem is derived from the Chippewa word “odoodem” meaning “his kinship group”.  Many tribes hold the belief that each person has an animal totem that is his/her spirit guide. Any animal spotted four or more times in a dream will become that person’s spirit animal and guide. These totems, or spirit guides walk through life with them, teaching and protecting them.
Totems include all animals as well as creatures of mythology and legend. Animal spirits can be called up by an individual for its special powers to serve as a guardian or protector. The Chippewa like many tribes follow a set of principles and beliefs that suggest a deep connection with the earth, nature and the spiritual realm.
In Crow Magic, the hero is a Shawnee Shaman is a crow shifter who is the Keeper of the Spiritual Law, and a carrier of souls from darkness to light. While searching for balance in life, he enjoys using his body to accomplish his magic.  The story shows the importance of spirituality in sex as it inspires personal growth. He looks at his 1 Night Stand as a job but ends up finding balance of nature in the arms of a shy woman.

In Eagle Dance, the hero is a Chippewa eagle shifter who listens to his spirit animal and turns to Madame Eve and 1Night Stand to help him find his spirit mate. This man of great strength finds it necessary to take a step into the past before dancing into the future.

Excerpt
She brushed the gray tips and white strands of hair that gave him such untamed nobility. With a finger, she traced his face from his temple to his jaw, across his lips, then scraping her nails along the fine hair under his chin. A man of his enormous size would be capable of great strength, and a gal could easily lose herself in his arms for more than one night. His gaze intensified under her scrutiny.
“What do you see when you look at me?” he asked and lowered his eyes. Sinfully long lashes brushed his cheeks.
She considered him to be the most gorgeous man alive. His eyes mesmerized her. Some would consider the unusual color to be eerie, but she saw a whirlwind of emotions, from pain to hope, drawing her into his soul. Did his unusual appearance cause issues and uncertainty in his life? Despite his intimidating frame, he exhibited control and gentle qualities in the tender way he’d held her when they danced and the way he’d admitted his soft spot for animals. In arms like his, a woman could find paradise in many ways.
She cupped his face and forced him to meet her gaze. “I see a handsome, mystical warrior from another world.”
“Handsome, huh? I think you need your vision checked. I am nothing more than a simple Chippewa from Michigan.” His mouth was inches from hers. “However, I can be magical and take you wherever you want to go.”
“Then dance with me,” she whispered.

Meet Dyami Schafer – Hero of Eagle Dance

Coming Soon!
One story produced a series…the Legend of the Spirit series. Native American shifters learn to follow their hearts to find love.
When I finished writing Crow Magic, a lovely story featuring a Shawnee Crow shifter named Tecumseh "Seth" Crowe, an eagle visited me.
The large bird sat on my porch railing looking me over with golden eyes and flexed his powerful talons. Through a mist the creature shifted into an incredibly sexy man. His eyes were the same gold as the eagles. His appearance dominated my porch but he moved in a graceful manner. He stood tall with a naked barrel chest and when he turned I noticed a huge tattoo of wings covering his back from shoulders to under his waistband. Dressed in baggy jeans and worn boots he had a rugged sexiness. His black hair cut in a modified military crop looked like velvet. Longer hair spiked on top was white while the sides were tipped with grey.  I’d never seen anything like it. He ran his hands through the silky layers and explained like the eagle, his hair would change to white as he ages but he assured me he’s in the prime of his life. I couldn’t agree more. Wowza!
Dyami comes from a Chippewa tribe and is currently a Conservation Officer for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in a secret division used to catch wildlife poachers. When he was a kid he spent his summers with relatives at the Coldwater Lake in Michigan. Even though his name means “EAGLE”, his uncle called him "Little Otter" because he would spend more time swimming than fishing. He still likes to fish but prefers dancing with a beautiful woman.
He is looking for a gal to live in his heart, warm his bed and love him for who/what he is. He loves to dance ladies! A friend told him to fill out an application for 1Night Stand. He is seriously contemplating the idea.
Eagle Dance, 2nd story in the Legend of the Spirit series will be released this Friday. Pick it up to see what happens.

Favorite Reading Spot

One of my favorite memories of my mom is how important summer reading was to her. As soon as school finished, we would go to our local bookstore and stock up. Mom encouraged me to make a special reading spot I could go to escape into other worlds and adventures. She said it should be quiet where I couldn’t be bothered…ah…interrupted by anything or anyone. Her favorite spot was in a rocking chair under a tree in front of our cottage at the lake. She always had a TBR pile that would make any author proud.  To this day, Mom still reads A LOT and I have my favorite reading spot.
Well… when I’m not writing it is also my reading spot. When we built our log home in the woods, I designed our 8’x60’ porch to be an extension of our living space. We spend time on the porch in all weather watching birds, doing crafts, puzzles, games, eating socializing and of course reading (and writing).

Tables, chairs and décor came from scouring rummage sales. Hubby made the newest table from old deck wood. A few cushions and pillow add to comfort. My reading spot is not far from the grill master of the house. Sometimes the kids join me otherwise they keep their rambunctious activities in the yard.
I often see neighbors sitting on their porches or under a tree reading. Friends post photos on line of reading poolside while their kids are busy.

Do you have a favorite spot to escape to?  Where is your reading spot?

How to Be a Cheap Date

By Mary Quast

I have three sons, all athletes and one graduating then heading to college.  My head spins from busy schedules. Time is in short supply as is funds. However, dearest hubby and I have managed to find time and ways to have some cheap if not free dates.
One of our favorite pastimes is to go junking. We grab a few bucks and leave the monsters, aka kids, at home. While sipping on coffee we plot out our journey to various barn sales, garage sales and estate sales. Driving across the country side exploring and seeking lost treasures is quite enjoyable. I recommend trying it! I suggest packing a picnic lunch then finding a park to benefit from some quiet time.
We like to support our local ice cream shop. Sharing a cone is possible unless it’s Blue Moon or Amaretto Cherry which are MINE.  Enjoying ice cream while holding hands walking through a park or down a street is very romantic and for extra fun show your honey what you can do with your tongue by demonstrating with the frozen treat. Wowza!
Sometimes nature is a nice kick start to a tired sex drive. Fishing and hiking are always nice ways to be together. Capture your honey in a quick embrace and passionate kiss when least expected. Simple touching can add fuel to a fire. Just be careful and not be caught in any compromising position while in a public place.
If you have kids send them to stay with friends or extended family for a night. Cook dinner together, watch a movie, have some wine… clothing optional. If you can’t manage to be alone, you may do the same things, but involve the kids with you. We will cook a huge meal with our boys. Nothing is sexier than hubby cooking and showing his sons the best way to grill a steak or eat a crawfish.
No matter what you do take a moment to see how it can be turned into a romantic opportunity.  The little things add up and create a strong bond for a couple. Sex is great but romance is awesome foreplay!
