JM Madden's Wet Dream (yep, we just said it)

So, my third book is out today.

My god, I can’t believe I just said that!

It’s a little hard to believe. Actually, it’s very hard to believe. Toyota laid me off this time last year, and I’ve come to realize it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I was very hurt when they let me go, because I had been a good worker.  Conscientious. The job was grueling, physically, but I did it well. I thought if I did it well, I would have a good career there.

Not.

So, I turned to my writing, that little dream I’d always shoved to the corner of my heart.
Imagine my surprise when I had a contract in my mailbox two days after I submitted to Decadent. I cried when I showed my husband, because it meant there was a possibility I could make a career out of this. Now, not quite one year later, I have three books out and one on the way in a couple of months. Not making very much money yet, but I am extremely satisfied with the direction things are going.

Wet Dream was the most fun to write, I think because I have an erotica author inside me and she’s testing the waters.  I sympathized with Ginger because I know how difficult it is to sometimes fit into a man’s world. And once you make your place in that world, being expected to keep that façade every day, all the time.  Which can be demoralizing to your self.
And I loved Cameron, my veteran. Even though it doesn’t seem like it in everyday life, we are in a war. Most of the time it doesn’t really affect our lives. We go along, all blasé, knowing people are fighting for our country but being removed from the dirty part of it, the actual fighting. Veterans are beginning to return home, though, and they aren’t necessarily pretty. They’ve had injuries, and been subjected to terrible situations and conditions. Hence, Cameron’s burns.

All heroes deserve love, even if they are a little rough around the edges. What do you think about physically imperfect men in romance novels? One commenter will receive a download of the book, as well as a separate little gift from me.

Wet Dream blurb:

Ex-FBI agent Ginger Hampton is not surprised when her date is a no show. Madame Evangeline, owner of 1NightStand promised her a perfect night…but Ginger is used to disappointment in love. The fact that she’s six feet tall, model perfect and owns her own high-end security firm tends to intimidate men. In spite of herself, she’d had high hopes for this date.

Madame Eve’s email had told him to watch for a woman in distress, and the woman at the bar is exactly that. Chief of Security Cameron Jones doesn’t see himself as a hero, but he’s willing to check on a special guest for his boss. He doesn’t realize until he sees her face that it’s Ginger Hampton, his own personal weak spot. She’s not turned off by his brutal scarring, and even flirts as if she’s interested. When he escorts her to her room, does he have the balls to respond to her interest, and stay the night? How can he say no to…his own personal wet dream?

  5. This sounds really good, JM. As for imperfect heroes they are the best kind. Strictly beautiful men tend to know they are gorgeous, and therefore don't really do it for me. I like a little vulnerability under a hard exterior.Cameron sounds delicious. Congrats on your release.

  6. Thanks for stopping girls.
I loved this book. I had fun writing it and learned so much editorially. ;-). And yes Madame Eve is especially tricksy with these two.
Becca, you are so right. They can't be too purty bc they get swelled heads!
I hope you all enjoy it.

  12. I enjoy seeing people (heroes, heroines, etc.) in books who are not perfect. It is real life & makes things more believable & real. Yes, I like my escapism but it can add emotional depth to be people who have to deal with issues or situations (disability for example.)
The book looks great & I can't wait to read it. :)
